Dà Hóng Páo – a Big Red Robe?

Dà Hóng Páo, translated as a Big Red Robe, is a legendary and important oolong tea, admired by millions. Many companies invest much in keeping the interest in Da Hong Pao. It is considered authentic as it is grown in its place of origin and has an initially high cost of production.
This tea, the same as the other so-called “artisan” teas, is typically of very high quality and has rich histories and legends about them.
According to one of them, four ever young Tea Virgins have been gathering this tea for 500 years, they have been awaken only for such mission. And one young man forgot all the women in the world, having seen them working. He wanted to marry one of them, but after observing their innocence, he stayed there forever, guarding the virgins from uninvited guests.

Another story tells about an ill emperor, who was cured by this certain tea. Afterwards he sent big red robes to clothe the very four tea bushes which saved his life. Do you know that these plants give less than one kilogram of tea each year? A portion of Da Hong Pao is always reserved for honoured guests and Chinese government.
